Rocque Perez, Council Member representing Ward 5 in the City of Tucson, announced the final recipients of more than $520,000 in community investments.

Tucson City Councilmember Rocque Perez led the City of Tucson in unanimously adopting a resolution opposing the Trump Administration’s proposed “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education,” calling the federal proposal a coercive attempt to impose political mandates on the University of Arizona.

In response to growing concerns from mutual aid groups and community organizations, Council Member Rocque Perez initiated the formal request that led to the City of Tucson suspending its Food & Beverage Distribution Permit requirement for park-based food distribution.

Tucson City Councilmember Rocque Perez joined Mayor Regina Romero and the Tucson Mayor and Council in voting to formally intervene in Tucson Electric Power’s (TEP) proposed 14% residential rate increase, now under review by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).

Tucson’s Ward 5 Council Member, Rocque Perez, in collaboration with non-profit lender Groundswell Capital, unveiled a flexible grant program designed to help small businesses and nonprofit community programs across the South and Southeast of Tucson.

Council Member Rocque Perez played a key role in restoring funding for the Pima Early Education Program Scholarships (PEEPs), helping secure approximately $250,000 in City support for the county-operated early education program after it faced elimination in the proposed budget.

At 26, Rocque Perez, the newest representative of Tucson’s Ward 5 is one of the youngest to serve on the city council.
